Look Out For: Kano
In a time where music has become a profit motivated industry opposed to the cultivation of an art form it is good to know that UK artist Kano is more concerned with making quality tracks instead of money, cars and jewellery.
Blasting on the scene with his album Home Sweet Home and following that up by teasing his fans with an underground mixtape Beats & Bars, Kano has always showcased a dexterous flow over striking beats.
Well this year we have Kano’s new mixtape and album to look forward to. The mixtape, aptly titled ‘Kano Mixtape’ should be out soon, with tracks such as ‘I Write Bars Till The Milkman Comes’, ‘Is This Grimey Enough’, ‘Layer Cake’ and ‘Fuckin Wid The Team’ the tape is showing promise. Simply put, so far so good.
His album, titled ‘London Town’ is also scheduled to be out some time this year, I’m guessing summertime but I wouldn’t bet on it. The good thing about Kano is that he paces himself; you’re not likely to get sick of the guy. It’s obvious he puts a lot into his music because the sheer quality of it is amazing. Unlike many rappers (yeah, you know it’s mainly the American ones, not all of them mind) that feel the need to saturate the market by shoving out tune after tune of crap, Kano takes his time. Hopefully the wait will be well worth it.
