Timbaland VS Scott Storch: Beef To Far?

Beef has always been rife in Hip Hop, battles and all were basically a tradition embedded within it from the beginning but the evolution of Hip Hop has lead to the evolution of this precise aspect of the genre.

Enough with the clever vocabulary, lets get down to the basics. Hip Hop beef has extended to the point of DVDs and as much as I hate the word beef itself, it has become a part of the culture we love so much (if you don’t, why are you reading this?).

The most recent issue has arisen between super producers Timbaland and Scott Storch apparently over the hit Justin Timberlake track ‘Cry Me a River’. Though Timbaland started the beef through his new track ‘Give It To Me’ with his new best friends Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake (gone are the times when Missy and Timbaland were the unstoppable Tag Team, she’s a bit boring now without her best pal), Scott Storch did nothing lighten the situation. Storch could have easily laid back and been the bigger man but no, his response ‘Built Like That’ showcases his rapping (ahem) talent as he ‘disses’ Timbo. I’m for neither both could be great but with Timbo thinking he can dance and Storch thinking he can rap, where will the madness end?

Since beef isn’t only restricted to rappers anymore, where is the future of Hip Hop? People can hardly collaborate because they hate each other so much. I’m not saying it’s a totally stupid concept because sometimes a little beef can create phenomenal successes (Nas and Jay-Z anyone, Ether was an amazing track) and can evoke the best fro people but when you’re just doing it for the sake of it (yep, that would be you 50) then its just pointless.
