Timbaland was named Songwriter Of The Year at the Pop Music Awards held by US publishing royalty collecting society ASCAP this week.
He was given the prize in recognition of his contributions to nine ASCAP award winning songs, including Nelly Furtado's 'Say It Right', Justin Timberlake's 'What Goes Around ... Comes Around' and his own hits 'Give It To Me' and 'The Way I Are'.The other big prizes of the night went to EMI Music Publishing, who were named Publisher Of The Year, and Fergie and Gwen Stefani, who tied for Song Of The Year for 'Big Girls Don't Cry' and 'The Sweet Escape' respectively.
