The Game appeared in court yesterday (January 9) over charges that he assaulted a man and brandished a gun during a game of basketball in Los Angeles.

The Compton rapper, previously denied the charges and the judge has now set a court date for February 4, reports Allhiphop.com.

Lawyers also claim that the Los Angeles Police Department has refused to hand over $44,000 (£22,000) back to Game, after the cash was seized when officers raided his California home in May 2007.

The judge also set a date of January 22 to determine if the LAPD are in contempt of court over the money.

Meanwhile, the rappper himself is currently in the studio finishing up his forthcoming album, reportedly titled, LAX.
