Former hip hop mogul Suge Knight has been released on bail after being charged with assault with a deadly weapon, and misdemeanour charges of domestic violence
possession of a controlled substance and possession of dangerous drugs without a prescription. As previously reported, Knight was arrested on Wednesday morning for allegedly attacking his girlfriend with a knife after leaving a strip club in Las VegasIn a statement, Las Vegas police said that Knight had punched his unnamed girlfriend in the head as they argued in their car. She then grabbed the steering wheel, causing the car to hit the curb, and ran away with Knight in pursuit. When police arrived on the scene, he was found standing over her holding a knife.
Police Lieutenant Chris Carroll said: "A citizen sees the beating in a parking lot, police get there fast, they see him beating her. It's a good solid case. This is a very large man. He was on top of her, actually in the act of violently beating her when the officers arrived, with the knife in his hand".
The woman is in hospital but her injuries are not thought to be life threatening. Knight will appear in court on 26 Sep to face the charges against him.
