P Diddy has settled a legal dispute with a man who claimed the rapper had punched him in the face.

Gerard Rechnitzer claimed that Diddy, real name Sean Combs, had "assaulted and battered" him outside a Hollywood nightclub in February 2007.

Court papers published on celebrity website TMZ did not reveal terms of the settlement.

Mr Rechnitzer claimed he was attacked after approaching Diddy at a post-Oscars party at Teddy's nightclub inside the Roosevelt Hotel.

Rechnitzer also claimed the US hitmaker pushed his girlfriend and spat on another woman.

Diddy claimed any contact with Rechnitzer "was caused by his forward motion against my open hand".
