Kanye West Says Auto-Tune Helps Him To Improve

Kanye West has responded to people who have criticised him for using vocal manipulation software Auto-tune on his vocals on his new album, '808s & Heartbreaks'.

I'm not quite sure why critics have been singling him out amongst all the other major pop stars who use the software to put their otherwise terrible vocals in tune. Perhaps because he's meant to be a credible hip hop star.

Anyway, West says that he uses Auto-tune because it makes him sing better. He said: "I get a lot of backlash for using [Auto-Tune] because it's a tool people use when they can't sing. What it does for me, if I sing off-key, it really points that out. It points out the bad notes. So what I have to do is sing more perfect".

So, just to clarify, Kanye West has Auto-tune on his vocals, but he doesn't actually need it, because his singing is perfect. He could take the processing off his voice, but you'd be so amazed by his actual singing voice that you would probably fall down dead. He's really doing you a service.
