Mary J. Blige Has An "Inner Rock Chick"
Mary J. Blige has an “inner rock chick” desperate to break out.
The R&B singer’s new album Stronger with Each Tear features two Led Zeppelin cover versions, including Whole Lotta Love. She loved working on the tracks, even though she knows they came as a surprise to her loyal fans.
“Of course, there’s definitely an inner rock chick in Mary J. Blige,” she said. “Oh man I had a good time doing A Whole Lotta Love, the acting it out, being the rock and roll Mary was so much fun!”
Mary is proud of her new album, which she says come from the heart. She insists it’s not just for people who like R&B music, claiming anyone who listens to it will find something to relate to.
“It’s a blessing to have nine Grammys and to have been in the business for so long and to be really, truly still relevant,” she told UK programme GMTV. “I mean my fans still love me even more than they did before.
“The inspiration behind the title itself was just life, and how you learn lessons and behind those lessons there’s a lot of tears. But you learn from it – you learn, ‘I will never do that again, or I’ll never do it that way.’ It’s just life, my life, your life, your friends’ lives, my friends’ lives, just people.”
