Usher's Album Delayed Again
The R&B star’s latest offering, Raymond vs. Raymond, was due to be released last December, but the date was pushed back to last week. However, the record now won’t be available until March 30 after Jive Records allegedly refused to put the album on sale until Usher signs with a management firm. Usher’s mother Jonetta Patton was his manager until they parted ways last November. It has been claimed Jonetta decided to stop working with Usher – real name Usher Raymond IV - because of a conflict of interests with his current girlfriend, who is a former Def Jam music executive.
"She walked away from the project because Usher had his girlfriend Grace Miguel was all in the mix," a source told the New York Daily News newspaper. "She felt as though if she didn't end things when she did, it would permanently affect their personal relationship."
Usher reportedly decided to manage himself with the help of Grace, but Jive Records feared the arrangement wasn’t working and there was “chaos in the camp”. The star is believed to be in the process of finding a new team and is close to signing a deal with AEG Live CEO Randy Phillips – whose clients have included Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie and Toni Braxton.
