The singer is donating proceeds from his new single Heroes to nonprofit organisation Respect!, which aims to end abuse and promote respect in relationships.
And he spoke out against Brown's actions when he debuted the track at New York venue SL on Tuesday, according to New York Post gossip column PageSix, .
He told the crowd, "What happened between Chris Brown and Rihanna was unacceptable, and we need to all work together and make sure it never happens again, to anyone."
Brown was handed a community service order and five years probation after he viciously attacked Rihanna, leaving her battered and bruised, in February last year.
