Stevie Wonder To Headline Glastonbury
Stevie Wonder is to headline the Glastonbury Festival this year.
The legendary singer-songwriter is in the final stage of negotiations to top the bill on the final night of the famous British summer concert. While his involvement is not “100 per cent confirmed,” festival organiser Michael Eavis was confident enough to announce Stevie as a headline act yesterday.
“It is very much a possibility but he's still only on Michael Eavis' wish list - so not 100 per cent confirmed, it's pending,” a festival spokesman said.
The year marks the 40th anniversary of the music festival. Eavis’ daughter Emily, who helps her father organise the event each year, confirmed they were in the final stages of talks with a “festival virgin”, but refused to confirm it was Stevie.
"We're pretty much sewn up now,” she said told British newspaper The Sun. "We're still lightly confirming the Sunday night headliner but apart from that we've pretty much finalised the Pyramid Stage, which is good.
"It's a 40 year celebration so we've got some amazing highlights from the full 40 years and also some people who haven't played before, one headliner in particular. We're very pleased.”
U2 and Muse are confirmed to headline the Friday and Saturday nights, while Dizzee Rascal and Vampire Weekend will also perform at the music event.
The annual Glastonbury Festival will take place on June 23-27 on Worthy Farm, in South West England.
