Chipmunk admits losing his way
Chipmunk The rapper - who hit number one in the UK with his single 'Oopsy Daisy' in 2009 - explained he is in the process of "resituating" himself as an artist after finding a "more comfortable" direction which balances out pop songs with his rap edge on his second album.
He told BANG Showbiz: "I'm kind of resituating myself as an artist and starting again and finding myself. I feel like I lost myself for a bit, but now I'm back.
"It's easy to fall into the trap of writing a pop song and having a hit and thinking, 'Ah, this is fun'. But it got to the point where it wasn't really that fun anymore.
"I studied the radio, I learned how to make a hit and I had a sequence of them, but I just thought there had to be more to music than that.
"This isn't why I started. Now I've found a direction that's more comfortable for me as an artist and I've reclaimed what I almost lost."
Meanwhile, the 20-year-old star admitted he listens to his second album, 'Transition', as a means of therapy, to assist him with his issues.
Speaking at the Alicia Keys 2011 Keep a Child Alive Black Ball at London's Roundhouse Theatre, he added: "'Transition' is an album that I made just for me, and now I like to listen to it as a kind of therapy to help me cope with everything that I'm going through."
