Lady Gaga has given Beyoncé Knowles a diamond whip and underwear for her birthday.

The music superstars became friends after recording Telephone and Video Phone together last year and have remained close since. Gaga wanted to treat Beyoncé to something special for her 29th birthday on Saturday, so decided to splash out a huge sum on the customised whip and matching bra and knickers. The outrageous singer presented Beyoncé with the gifts in Jay-Z’s dressing room after his show with Eminem in Detroit last week.

"Gaga wanted to give her something special. The whip was made out of hundreds of diamonds and leather,” a source told British newspaper The Sun. "When Beyoncé received it she squealed with excitement. The dressing room was decorated with balloons and banners."

Gaga even sang Happy Birthday to Beyoncé before the pair enjoyed a bottle of champagne together.

Dr Dre, 50 Cent and Drake were also there as they had been performing on Jay-Z and Eminem’s Home and Home tour.
