Eminem and Elton top duet poll
Eminem The rapper and singer took to the stage to perform Eminem’s track Stan at the prestigious event. At the time, Eminem was facing criticism from gay and lesbian groups for the supposedly homophobic lyrics in some of his songs. His decision to perform with openly-gay Elton was a response to the comments.
Entertainment Weekly magazine has now declared them to be the most unlikely duet partners ever in a new poll.
Aerosmith and Run DMC also feature on the list, thanks to their track Walk This Way in 1986. The rockers first released the song in 1975, with Run D.M.C. including it as a cover on their album Raising Hell in 1986. It is viewed as one of the first attempts to fuse hip-hop with rock music.
Dusty Springfield secured a spot thanks to her duet What Have I Done To Deserve This? with the Pet Shop Boys. The song was made available in 1987 and reached number two in the Billboard Hot 100 – making it Dusty’s biggest hit in America.
Other collaborations to feature in the top ten include Bing Crosby and David Bowie's Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy, Nick Cave and Kylie Minogue's Where The Wild Roses Go and dance act KLF’s track Justified & Ancient with country singer Tammy Wynette.
