Usher: I wanted to entertain the world
Usher The R&B singer has released a string of top-selling albums, and is fiercely proud of all he has achieved. He has sold over 45 million records worldwide, and achieved number ones in many countries.
Usher explains he always knew he would be a singer when he was a child, and is glad his music speaks to so many people. "I was eager to do something incredible and impactful as an artist. I had a talent and I wanted to use that talent to speak to the world. I wanted to use my voice to sing the songs the world could enjoy, grow from and love,” he explained
"I think music is best used as a keeper of all great emotions, whether it's love, fun times in the club, the attitude and arrogance of opulence - whatever it may be, music holds all of that. As a young child I always wanted to be the greatest that I could."
Usher knows many of his fans are women, but thinks that is changing. The 31-year-old made a conscious decision to start writing tracks which would appeal to men, and has enjoyed the challenge. He has always found it easier to impress girls, and has worked hard to turn things around
"The guys weren't so fond of me when I was younger. I had to win them over in time, but the women were always there. You gotta go after the women first,” he told British newspaper The Daily Mirror. "Once I had them, I started making music that spoke to men so that they would understand and stop feeling negatively about me."
