A judge has praised Chris Brown for doing a “good job” fulfilling the terms of his probation.

The 21-year-old hip-hop singer attended a progress hearing at the Los Angeles Superior Courthouse yesterday in relation to his 2009 conviction for assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna. Chris was sentenced to five years of probation, six months’ community service and one year of domestic violence classes in February 2009 and has to attend regular court sessions so a judge can assess his progress.

Judge Patricia Schnegg was impressed with Chris’ behaviour, and encouraged him to continue the good work he has been doing.

“You are doing very well on probation. You are doing a good job.” Schnegg told the star. “It looks like you are working consistently on your community labour hours and I know it is a big job.”

Chris has four years of probation remaining. He is due back in court for another progress hearing on November 18.

Chris was charged with felony assault after he attacked Rihanna on the way home from a pre-Grammy Awards party in February 2009. He punched and bit the young singer, leaving her bruised and bleeding.
