MIA's recent invitation to fans to join her on stage could cost her, according to UK reports.

The 35-year-old Paper Planes singer was on stage at the Big Chill festival when she told her audience to come up on stage and join her.

However the gig then had to be cut short when hundreds of fans tried to get on stage and barged past security staff to get there.

A source said to UK newspaper Daily Star: "By inviting the audience on stage MIA was in breach of her contract.

"The organisers don't have to pay her anything if they feel she endangered people, it's all there in black and white."

Two members of the security staff were injured as they tried to keep the fans back.
