The American R&B star was keen to impress his Chinese fans so he learnt Chinese lyrics for a duet with Asian pop sensation Lee-Hom Wang.

The song was a signature piece from Wang called My One and Only, which Usher had become a fan of. The pop stars also sung Usher’s hit single OMG together in English.

“I wanted to make a great impression, so I wanted to do something very special,” Usher told the Chicago Sun-Times. “After hearing [Wang’s] music, I wanted to collaborate with him.”

The star explained he came to China because he knows there’s an audience for him there. He has been enjoying the trip so far, although admits performing in Asia is a completely unique experience. Unlike in America and Europe, where fans often sing along as loudly as possible, Chinese fans tend to keep quiet out of respect for the performer.

Usher is the first big foreign artist to perform in China this year. The concert was a huge success as the singer entertained fans with some of his biggest hits such as You Make Me Wanna, Caught Up and Yeah.
