David Walliams' Mr Stink to be adapted for TV
David Walliams David Walliams said he was 'beyond thrilled' that Mr Stink was being made into a TV film.
Originally released in 2009, the book has been a huge success, selling over 250,000 copies. It tells the story of a tramp befriended by a young girl and was adapted for the stage last year. Mr Stink has also recently been shortlisted for a Blue Peter award for the best children's novel of the past decade.
Walliams has written three other children's books, The Boy In The Dress, Billionaire Boy and Gangsta Granny over the past four years.
BBC One controller Danny Cohen said: "Mr Stink is a heart-warming, nose-clenching and funny tale which will appeal to viewers of all ages."
Walliams is currently on the judging panel of Britain's Got Talent with filming of Mr Stink due to take place later this year. The comedian is expected to play the part of the Prime Minister in the film.
