The Simpsons reaches 500th episode
The Simpsons The 500th episode of The Simpsons will see Homer and family kicked out of Springfield.
As a result, they go and live on the outskirts of town and meet Wikileaks founder Julian Assange. The idea to feature the whistleblowing journalist apparently started as a dare, leading to Assange voicing his own part in the show.
The landmark episode comes as creator Matt Groening received a place on Hollywood's walk of fame.
Groening credited the success of The Simpsons to all those involved in the production and a variety of comedy featured.
He told Sky News: "The Simpsons is like a cavalcade of different comedy styles. There are puns, there's slapstick, there's silent comedy type jokes. We rip off jokes from everything.
"Then there are fairly sophisticated jokes and references to movies, books, theatre and politics and all the rest. Mixing it all together, I think, continues to keep not only the audience on their toes but also us who are making the show on our toes as well."
The 500th episode of The Simpsons will be broadcast in the US later this month and on Sky One in June.
