The star of the British sitcom has said he doesn't think the humour will travel across the pond.

Sir David Jason believes that a planned US remake of Only Fools and Horses will fail.

ABC are planning a remake of the classic British sitcom, and the knighted actor doesn’t believe a remake will travel well.

The actor said, “They can do brilliant comedy but I don’t think they can bring off Fools and Horses. The language will have to change so much and there will be so many parts of the storyline you have to change.

“It’s so London and so British in its humour that you wonder.

“I have no idea what the American equivalent of ‘plonker’ is, for example. Or ‘dipstick’.

I for one would have to agree in the sentiment that as Del Boy is such a southern wheeler-dealer, and the comedy of the programme is British, if they change it to suit an American audience then it won’t be Only Fools will it?
