The new programme has hit a bit of a rut, dropping in viewers for a second week.

Ricky Gervais’ golden touch on TV seems to have hit a bit of a rut with new show, Life’s Too Short, which feature’s Hollywood actor Warwick Davis in the lead.

The viewing figures have been declining since the first episode, with just over half those who tuned in for the first episode sticking with the show for the third.

The latest episode was seen by only 1.25 million viewers on BBC2, but Gervais was quick to point out that the overnight ratings, taking into account the repeat and iPlayer views, were actually 2.2 million.

“They were so keen to get the story out there that it flopped in the ratings haha,” he posted on his Twitter account. “He who laughs last… Thanks you guys for watching.”

To be fair, the overnight ratings for the premiere episode were around 5 million, so, sorry Ricky, same story.

As a fan of everything Ricky has done, even I found Life’s Too Short a bit of a chore. For the couple of good lines that worked, there were an abundance that just withered and died. Sorry Ricky but you had to have a stinker some time in your life. Suck it up. Life’s too short, eh?
