Johnny Depp reveals his dark side to Ricky Gervais in 'Life's Too Short'
Johnny Depp It was whilst shooting a cameo for Ricky's new TV sitcom 'Life's Too Short' that Rum-Diary man, Johnny Depp, flexed his comedy muscles. Gervais admitted that filming with the movie star was a challenge because the cast couldn't stop giggling over his comedic wisecracks.
"In one scene, I'm sort of helping Warwick get shoved down a toilet, as you do, I'm laughing and Warwick's laughing and at one point Warwick goes, 'Look at Johnny!' I turn around and Johnny Depp is going, 'You don't mind if I masturbate while you're doing that?'"
"If people knew what he was really like, his career would be over!”
During Johnny's scene, Warwick Davis first introduces Johnny Depp to Ricky Gervais and (co-writer) Stephen Merchant in the office. Johnny flickers ash from his cigar into Ricky's glass of water.
The plot begins to thicken as Warwick asks if they've met before, Johnny says “I actually remember him from the Golden Globes.”
Tension builds when Gervais asks how he's doing, Johnny answers “I'm fine, man. Just doing another film that's going to make loads of money, probably a lot more money than any film you've ever made.”
Then when Gervais eventually asks him “I'm sorry, have I done something to offend you?” Johnny replies “what do you mean? Like trashing me in front of 200 million people at the Golden Globes?”
Awkward...
Relax, its all part of the script, the two delightfully expressed there to be no rift between them on The Graham Norton show earlier this month in which Gervais promoted the new show.
“People said, 'You’ve insulted everyone, Johnny Depp is furious,' so I sent him an email and said ‘Sorry about the Globes,’ and he said, ‘I loved it, of course I wasn’t annoyed.'”
