Chris Colfer: I'm staying on Glee
Chris Colfer Earlier this year, it was claimed Chris – along with Lea Michele and Corey Monteith – would be leaving the TV show after the third season.
Co-creator Ryan Murphy then revealed he was considering a spin-off series starring the trio.
However, Chris has now revealed he will continue to portray Kurt Hummel.
"I've heard all these rumours about Glee,” talk show host Jay Leno told Chris. “You guys were leaving, and then no, you're getting a TV spin-off, and then you're staying. So what's happening?"
At first, Chris was reluctant to address the rumours.
"The truth is people forget that Glee is still a TV show," he replied. "We just have to survive season three first before we can worry about it."
Jay was determined to get an answer from Chris, so continued to quiz him about his future on Glee.
“You didn't answer the question! Are you staying or leaving? Remember, you’re under oath!" Jay quipped.
"No, no, I'm staying,” Chris smiled as the studio audience cheered.
Chris received an Emmy nomination for his portrayal of Kurt, a gay high school student.
The 21-year-old star recently revealed his character will face further prejudice when the series returns.
"One thing with Kurt that they're tapping into - which I've never seen done on TV - they're really having Kurt having to go through the levels of acceptance," he said.
"He learned to accept himself in the first and second season and now I think he's really still struggling to find acceptance from others, unfortunately."
The new season of Glee premieres in the US on September 20.
