Chris Colfer has revealed that he found out that he would not be returning to Glee after season four via Twitter.

The actor's character, Kurt Hummel, will graduate at the end of the next series, along with Rachel Berry, played by Lea Michele, and Finn Hudson, played by Cory Monteith. And he admitted that an announcement on the microblogging site was the first he knew about his fate.

He told Access Hollywood, "I found out that they made that announcement. I didn't necessarily know that it was going to be our last season next year, I knew something like that was coming up eventually. I mean, we can't be there forever.

"I don't necessarily want to leave so soon, but I mean, it's fine. It's what it is. And all things come to an end."

But he has been given a going-away present for his time on the musical series - a second Emmy nomination.

"It feels great! I'm just as excited as the first time," he said. "It's just a huge category. It's Best Actor in a Comedy, and we all know that Kurt is not funny, so I'm very, very happy to be a part of it."
