Kim Cattrall Jokes She Wants To Form A Girl Group
Kim Cattrall In the new movie, Kim, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon filmed a riotous scene at a karaoke bar. The actresses have also recorded a song for the album which accompanies the film, lending their vocals to a cover version of Helen Reddy’s I Am Woman.
Kim is thrilled with the results and was pleasantly surprised by her vocal talents. Other stars to appear on the album include Liza Minnelli, Alicia Keys and Jennifer Hudson. Kim has suggested they should all get together and secure a lucrative residency in Las Vegas.
“We have got to go to Las Vegas, we got to tour. Especially after recording the song and having Liza do one too,” she exclaimed. “It would be so much fun. We could make a new girl group.”
Kim had to wear a number of outrageous outfits when she reprised her role as maneater Samantha Jones for the second movie. Many of the clothes were inspired by the 80s and featured studs, big shoulder pads and bright colours. Kim has revealed the dress she wore for the karaoke scene actually belonged to someone else and stylist Patricia Field demanded to use it in the movie.
“The outfit with the big shoulder pads was extraordinary. That was on the back of a drag queen at a party that Pat went to about a week before we filmed the karaoke sequence. She literally ripped it off his back and said, ‘I need that for a character in my movie.’ Then she called me and I came in for a fitting,” Kim explained on British programme GMTV.
“But it wasn’t a dress it was a shirt so they extended it overnight and it was absolutely fabulous. It was like something out of Battlestar Galactica.”
