Lindsay Lohan Must Attend Probation Hearing On Thursday
The star is currently on probation after being convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) in 2007. As part of the court’s ruling, she has been ordered to attend alcohol education lessons and there have been repeated claims she has not been to enough. If she is found to have violated the order, Lindsay could be jailed.
The actress’ next progress hearing will take place on May 20, and Judge Marsha Revel has ordered that Lindsay attend. The actress’ last hearing took place in February, where the judge decreed she was “in full compliance”. At that time it was said Lindsay would not have to appear at subsequent hearings unless she was found to have breached her probation.
Lindsay’s lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley met with Judge Revel yesterday, but did not comment on what they spoke about. The attorney has said Lindsay needs around two-and-a-half more weeks to complete her 18-month alcohol education classes.
It has been reported Lindsay must be in court as Judge Revel is planning to schedule a probation violation hearing because the star hasn’t been to enough of the lessons.
Los Angeles District Attorney's Office spokeswoman Jane Robison has said that if Lindsay does not present herself at court this week, a bench warrant for her arrest could be issued.
The new hearing will likely take place in July.
“Pending the probation violation hearing, Lohan could be ordered to wear an alcohol monitoring bracelet, known as SCRAM,” reported RadarOnline. “It's unclear at this point if Lohan will be sent to jail by Judge Revel, but we are told the judge is taking this ‘very, very seriously’.”
Lindsay wore one of the bracelets in 2007 in an attempt to show she was intent on getting sober.
