Cameron Diaz Insisted On Starring Alongside Justin
Cameron Diaz The blonde star reportedly passed on big Hollywood names including Bradley Cooper, Ryan Reynolds and Paul Rudd in favour of teaming up with her former flame in the new sexy comedy. Movie bosses weren’t convinced Justin had enough experience for the lead role, but Cameron persevered with her campaign. The beauty is believed to have shown clips from Justin’s comedy The Social Network which eventually convinced the studio to offer him the role.
“Cameron had forgotten what great chemistry she has with Justin until she saw him at the Hope for Haiti Now telethon. Cameron kept telling Columbia Pictures she wanted Justin. She was bummed because the studio said no — they didn’t think Justin would be good on the big screen,” a source revealed. “Cameron melted down and really pushed it. That sold them.”
The pair broke up in 2007 and Justin is now dating Hollywood beauty Jessica Biel. Although Jessica was initially worried about the pop hunk working with his ex, she is now believed to be happy he has been given such a great opportunity to make a name for himself in the movie business.
“When Justin made it clear he was doing the movie with or without Jessica’s support, Jess swallowed her pride and did the unthinkable — she pilfered Cam’s cell number from Justin’s phone and called her to bury the hatchet,” the source added to the American edition of OK! magazine. “Jessica said she was thrilled Justin was working with someone of Cameron’s calibre and thanked Cam for going to bat for him.”
In the movie, Cameron plays a school teacher who is desperately pursuing a colleague – portrayed by Justin - who is already in a relationship. The pair are currently shooting the film in Los Angeles.
