Kristen Stewart And Dakota Became "Best Friends" On Set
Kristen Stewart The pair appear alongside each other in The Runaways, the biopic of the 70s rock band of the same name. Kristen plays Joan Jett while Dakota portrays Cherie Curie, and Dakota admits she never expected to bond with Kristen in the way she has.
“It’s amazing. She’s become one of my best friends. We’re really close,” Dakota, 16, explained. “I think it’s really great working with your friends, and to be completely open with someone and to have no defence mechanism, you know what I mean? Just completely open with that person. I love that – especially for this film.”
Much has been made of one scene in the movie which sees the two women lock lips, but Dakota insists it wasn’t hard to shoot. She is adamant it’s just another part of the movie, and they approached it in the same way as every other scene.
Kristen, 19, was thrilled to be asked to play Joan. She is a huge fan of the iconic rocker, praising her feisty attitude. Kristen wishes she could be more like her idol, explaining the best thing about Joan is that she doesn’t realise who interesting she is as a person.
“She is who she is, to put it completely plainly,” Kristen says. “There’s not some deep way to put it. She almost really innocently doesn’t even realise that she is that way. If you said ‘God, you’re such a bad-a*s, you’re so yourself all the time,’ she’d be like, ‘What?! I don’t even know what you’re talking about.’ ”
