Dita Von Teese Relied On Friends To Hook Her Up
Dita Von Teese The 37-year-old married goth rocker Marilyn Manson in 2005, but filed for divorce a year later. She admits it was initially hard to meet men after her split, as men were too nervous to approach her because she was famous.
“A few years ago when I was newly single after divorcing, it was hard to date. I didn’t get approached very often, so my dates primarily consisted of my friends setting me up on dates with men that they knew,” she explained to Cover Media. “But when it comes down to it, I don’t think that it’s very difficult for a man to accept what I do once he gets to know me and sees the way that I actually work and how I really am. Men that are intelligent and confident understand what I do, and see the work that goes into it, and see me as more than a girl dancing around with her clothes off, and they eventually realise that there’s no need for jealously or anything like that! But to actually FIND those men with those attributes isn’t always easy.”
Despite this, Dita admits some men were overawed by her job. She found some disliked the amount of time she would spend away from them for work, while other didn’t look on her career as a real job.
She is now happily dating a mystery Frenchman she is “crazy” about, and insists that shows some men are willing to look past her sexy facade and see what lies beneath.
“As much as men say they like women that have their own thing going on, they can sometimes be insecure about all the travelling I do, and how devoted I am to my work,” she revealed. “And some people can't understand how what I do can be considered work at all, so that's another issue! It took me three years of dating unsuccessfully to find someone that I'm crazy about that actually understands me, and accepts me. But it was worth it!”
