Jake Gyllenhaal Introduced Rachel Adams As Baby Mother
The Hollywood hunk is single following his split from Reese Witherspoon last year. He and Rachel presented the award for the Best Adapted Screenplay at the prestigious ceremony, and spent much of their time backstage deep in conversation.
They were huddled together in the lobby of Los Angeles Kodak Theatre, and only broke apart when some of Jake’s pals came up to speak to him.
“This is Rachel McAdams, she's the mother of my child,” Jake is quoted as saying to his friends.
Other backstage antics included Matt Damon and his wife Luciana Bozán Barrosa sharing champagne with his fellow best supporting actor nominee Stanley Tucci. They apparently drank to toast winner Christoph Waltz. Kristen Stewart and her twilight co-star Taylor Lautner were said to be overcome with excitement at being invited to the ceremony, while DJ Joel Madden entertained guests by playing a string of retro hits including Easy Like Sunday Morning by Lionel Richie, his soon-to-be father-in-law.
After the ceremony, stars attended a series of parties. Sandra Bullock, Mo’Nique, Meryl Streep and Charlize Theron were among those who went to the Governors Ball at the Hollywood and Highland Center. The room was decorated to look like a 1930s Hollywood ballroom, in colours of rose and mauve. Guests feasted on salmon and organic chicken, with Sandra making a beeline for the food. The star was named best actress for her portrayal of Leigh Anne Tuohy in The Blind Side, the true story of a mother who took in a disadvantaged youngster. When asked to pose with Leigh Anne on her way into the party, Sandra quipped: “For the love of God, Leigh Anne! Come on, I need some food!"
Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Simpson, Natalie Portman and Kate Beckinsale opted for the Vanity Fair Oscar Party, where food included trays of In-N-Out burgers and smoked salmon. Oscars hosts Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin were there, and were heard discussing how much they enjoyed working together.
