Steve Carell: I'm difficult to work with
The comic actor is starring in Crazy, Stupid, Love opposite Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone.
Steve also serves as producer on the romantic comedy, and has teased that his executive duties spawned an ego while working on the film’s set.
“I am a monster on set,” he said. “I project this image of being a very nice, affable person, but don’t push me. Especially in terms of money. I will cut you.”
Steve had a wonderful time working alongside Hollywood heartthrob Ryan. The actor sports a super toned torso in the movie, and Steve has joked he gets mistaken for the star all the time.
“Ryan Gosling. I get that a lot. Especially when I walk around without a shirt. People say ‘Oh Ry- , Steve, it’s you!’” he laughed in an interview with the Kyle and Jackie O radio show.
Steve considers himself very fortunate to have worked with such great actors in the industry. The 49-year-old was thrilled with the cast of the movie.
“We got everyone we wanted in the movie. We got all our first choices. I think it’s rare. We were really lucky. We have Julianne Moore, and Ryan and Emma Stone, and Kevin Bacon and Marisa Tomei,” he explained.
“All of these people are quite great. I think we’re very fortunate.”
Steve insists that Crazy, Stupid, Love will not be part of a film series. He believes the ending of the movie leaves little room for expansion.
“I think this is a one-off thing. I don’t see a sequel. Unless the sequel is called Everybody’s Happy,” he chimed.
Steve thinks his film career is “beyond” his wildest dreams. The funny man considers himself very lucky to be doing what he loves on a daily basis.
“It’s beyond that,” he replied when asked if he has his dream job. “I never imagined any of this would happen. To be on a radio show in Australia, promoting a movie, it’s dream-like and it’s sort of surreal, I have to say.”
