Cheryl Cole has reportedly agreed to have marriage counselling with her estranged husband.

The singer called time on her three-year-marriage to soccer player Ashley Cole last week, after a string of women claimed he had cheated on her with them. She apparently told the sportsman to move out of the Surrey mansion they share, with Ashley travelling to France to receive treatment for his broken ankle.

He is due back to the UK next week, and there have been claims Cheryl has agreed to meet him to hear his side of the story. It has now been reported the 26-year-old will have therapy sessions with Ashley at their home, in a bid to save their relationship.

“Cheryl has agreed to see a counsellor with Ashley to hear his issues. She thinks he deserves to be heard and understands how he could think that she let him down as a wife,” a source told British newspaper The Daily Mail.

“In essence, she is starting to accept his claim that it is not solely his fault their marriage collapsed. He has managed to persuade her that he's not a cad - more a victim of circumstance. She's now starting to think he's vulnerable and immature and easy prey for predatory women.”

Although Cheryl is still devastated by the allegations against Ashley, she apparently feels she “owes” it to him to discuss their issues.

The singer has also agreed to let Ashley see their two Chihuahuas, Coco and Buster. Although Cheryl wants full-time custody of the pooches if she and the sportsman decide to divorce, she knows how close Ashley is to them and believes it is only fair he sees them too.

“They want to sort this out as amicably as possible so, to keep the peace, Cheryl is allowing Ashley to spend a few days with them when he gets back to the UK," a source told British newspaper The Daily Mirror. "Ashley has arranged for a car to pick them up from their home and take them to his makeshift apartment in London. He will have them for a few days and then the dogs will go back to Cheryl. In effect, they have negotiated an ad hoc custody agreement. Cheryl won’t stop Ashley from seeing the Chihuahuas but, long-term, she does want them with her.”

There have been claims Cheryl could move to America to try and launch a career there if she splits from Ashley permanently. Choreographer Brian Friedman, who works with Cheryl on the TV show The X Factor she judges, has apparently offered to support her if she does take the plunge.

“Brian is trying to persuade her to give it a shot in LA,” a source explained. "He told her he's happy to be her chaperone until she settles. High-level people already love her there.”
