Simon Cowell's Mother Is Depserate For Him To Get Married
Simon Cowell’s mother is desperate for him to get married at her tiny village church.
Julie Cowell, 84, worships at St Margaret’s in Rottingdean, the East Sussex village close to Simon’s childhood home in Brighton. Julie is devout in her faith and would love the music mogul and his fiancé Mezhgan Hussainy to hold their ceremony there, but insists she will not pressure him.
“I’m very excited about the wedding and I’d love him to get married in St Margaret’s, but it’s up to him and Mezhgan,” she told British newspaper the Daily Mirror. “I’ve told Simon Father Martin Morgan would be very happy if he got married there as we have a long history with the church. Simon is very committed for the first time ever which is wonderful. The wedding is very important to me.”
Simon, 50, and 36-year-old Mezhgan are now said to be planning two wedding ceremonies, one in his mother’s church, and one in Los Angeles close to Mezhgan’s family. Both events are due to take place later this year.
“He doesn’t want to upset Julie – they are very close,” an insider said. “He’s finding this marriage stuff stressful. He’s used to making up his own mind and now has to factor in other people’s feelings.”
Simon is understood to have proposed with a £250,000 ring from upmarket jewellers Graff while the couple were enjoying a romantic meal on Valentine's Day earlier this month.
