Madonna Helps Her Toy-Boy Get A Record Deal
Madonna The 51-year-old singer has been dating Brazilian model Jesus Luz, 23, for around a year. She decided to help him launch a pop career after she realised how determined he was to break into the industry, and called on contacts at her old label Warners to help.
“Madonna was determined to give Jesus all the help she can. She really wants Jesus' career to take off. She's been going through her Filofax and putting him in contact with as many of her influential pals as she can She holds a lot of sway at Warners, where she had a deal until very recently. But getting him on the books wasn't completely plain-sailing,” a source told British newspaper The Sun. "There was a little give and take between her and execs, but a compromise was eventually settled upon.”
Madonna apparently agreed to let several tracks from her back catalogue be used in advertising campaigns, something she has previously been loath to do.
Jesus now has a two-single deal with the label, with the company getting the first chance to release an album by him if the tracks are hits. His first offering, called We Came From Light, will be out in May. A version of the song has Madonna vocals on it, but that will most likely be a B-side.
The star has apparently offered to help cover Jesus’ studio costs, and has asked remixer Victor Calderone to work his magic on the songs. Victor teamed up with Madonna on her singles Frozen and American Pie.
Meanwhile, it has been claimed Jesus was left in tears after an angry partygoer threw beer in his face at an event in Brazil over the weekend.
Jesus was DJ’ing at a party to celebrate the top samba schools who appeared at the recent Rio De Janeiro carnival when the mystery man came up and doused him with the alcoholic beverage, according to iG Gente magazine. Jesus eventually completed his set, but needed four bodyguards with him.
