Colin Farrell: Bono Should Be Driving Round In A Chariot
Colin Farrell thinks Bono should ride around Dublin in a chariot with a crown on his head.
The Irish actor had to perform live country music for his role in musical drama Crazy Heart and couldn’t believe how difficult it was. The experience gave him new respect for people like U2 singer Bono, who performs for a living.
“Performing live was deadly,” the 33-year-old star said. “We had 12 minutes after the opening act at a Toby Keith gig. People go on about Bono having a big sense of self – after what I tasted, if I was Bono I’d be driving around Dublin in a chariot with a laurel leaf crown. Bono is nothing but the most humble f**k I’ve ever met.”
Colin admits he had other reasons to be nervous about his live show. The concert took place just months after his much-criticised performance in Alexander, and he was convinced someone in the audience would try to hurt him because they hated the film.
“The audience was great. I really thought some of them were going to throw a few bottles of Coors at my head because of Alexander,” Colin told Total Film magazine. “I shot my whole part in three days. I tell you, you break your b******s doing five months of prep and you shoot for six months and you get slammed. You come off a plane, put your hair in a ponytail and strap on a pair of cowboy boots and you get some of the best reviews you’ve ever got.”
