Jordan The glamour model, known as Jordan, wed her cage fighter lover in Las Vegas earlier this month. After the ceremony, she was proud to show off her large diamond ring, but “exploded” just days later when she found out it was not as expensive as she thought.
Alex was in India filming his new TV series The Fight Of His Life when he got a call from a furious Katie, demanding to know why he hadn’t spent more on her sparkler.
“The stories saying that the ring I bought Katie only cost £2,200 caused me a lot of trouble,” Alex told British newspaper the Daily Mirror. “She hit the roof. I can’t say how much I paid but it’s more like £60,000. You only get married once, don’t you? And I wanted to push the boat out.”
Katie, 31, was pacified when she discovered the true cost of the ring, but Alex’s family is still angry the couple went ahead with the wedding after just eight months of dating. The 34-year-old star says his parents wish they could have attended the nuptials, and revealed his mother was the only one who knew he was planning to wed before it happened.
“The wedding was whirlwind and a bit of a surprise,” Alex said. “Katie planned it all.
“My mum and dad, my whole family in fact, were a bit gutted. I managed to tell my mum in a quick call just minutes before, but no one else.
“I didn’t get married for them, anyway. I got married for me – to make Alex Reid happy.”
