The 26-year-old singer, who is married to British soccer player Ashley Cole, admits her X Factor co-judge Dannii Minogue falling pregnant has made her think about having children.

“I’m not quite ready for kids yet. I think even within Girls Aloud I do harbour quite a maternal instinct,” she said in an interview with the British edition of OK! magazine. “I don’t know whether that’s down to always having kids around, having lots of nephews and nieces.”

Cheryl also revealed being asked to judge contestants on The X Factor made her rethink certain aspects of her life. Her involvement with the talent programme has been “inspiring” as she had never considered such a role before.

She added: “I think everything in life inspires you. The contestants on The X Factor inspire me and I had actually been offered that job before anything, so hopefully that would have happened anyway.

“You feel inspired all the time by different things at different stages in your life.”
