John Travolta Flies In Aid For Haiti
John Travolta has flown six tons of food and medical supplies into Haiti in his private jet.
The actor loaded his Boeing 707 with ready-to-eat military rations, essential hospital supplies and other aide items and flew to the natural disaster-stricken nation with his wife Kelly Preston. Once there, the couple and other Church of Scientology supporters helped distribute their cargo to victims of the devastating earthquake. John said he had been horrified by the plight of the Haitian people in the aftermath of the earthquake, and decided to do everything he could to help.
“We have the ability to actually help make a difference in the situation in Haiti and I just can't see not using this plane to help,” he said.
After John and his helpers had delivered their cargo, the actor flew them back to the US.
John is an outspoken supporter of Scientology, a bizarre religion advocated by Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes and several other celebrities. The Church of Scientology was quick to respond to the Haitian disaster, dispatching several hundred of its members to Port-au-Prince last week to help with rescue efforts.
However, the helpers have been criticised for their unorthodox healing practices, which include “light touching” of injured and infected areas to heal any affliction.
