Cher: I never plan my career
Cher The singing and acting icon will turn 65 on May 20, and admits that despite being hugely successful, she has never been one to plan out her future.
The star usually just follows her instincts and tries not to overcomplicate things, although she isn’t sure whether that was the best approach to have taken.
"I never was a big strategist I always do what's obvious. If that was smart or dumb you get to know later," she laughed in an interview with German TV channel Tele 5.
The celebrity is famed for her daring outfit choices as well as her immense talent, and continues to rock provocative attire even into her 60s. Cher feels proud of the way she dresses, despite being aware of the risks she may have taken with her career.
"I'm never embarrassed of anything. I have always felt great and glamorous,” she beamed.
"I chatted up and annoyed all possible directors for years. But it was always, ‘She may be talented but her lovers are too young and she doesn't dress like an actress.’"
Cher’s fondness for younger gentlemen has been well documented. In 2009 she was linked to biker Tim Medvetz, who was in his 30s, and last year it was reported that she was romancing comedy writer Ron Zimmerman – who is in his 50s. She claims that men of her own age or older have never been keen to date her.
"Older men were never into me. It wasn't like I had this big selection and just wanted to date the youngest," she added.
