Carrie Underwood admits acting is “way out of her element”.

The Grammy winning country singer rose to fame after winning the fourth season of talent show, American Idol in 2005. The 28-year-old has since gone on to forge a successful music career, releasing three studio albums.

Carrie has also ventured into acting, with a small role last year on US sitcom, How I Met Your Mother. She will now appear in her first feature film titled, Soul Surfer, where she stars in the true story of a youth councillor who befriends a surfer following a shark attack.

Carrie admits she was apprehensive about going into acting as she’s no longer in her comfort zone.

“I think the most challenging aspect of making this movie, for me, is just that I've never done it before. This is all very new to me. I know how to sing...This is something, I'm way out of my element," she revealed.

Carrie stars alongside established actors, Helen Hunt and Dennis Quaid, in the movie, and reveals their experience assisted her during filming. The star admits that without their help she may not have been able to do her part justice.

"Everybody on the set has been so nice and so helpful and so patient with me....teaching me. I feel really confident that they wouldn't let me do anything I'd look bad doing," she continued.
