Calista Flockhart: I tease older Harrison
Calista Flockhart The 46-year-old actress is 22 years younger than the Hollywood legend and has admitted she often reminds him of that fact when they are arguing. The pair raised eyebrows when they began dating in 2002 because of the difference in their ages, and Calista has confessed she was also initially worried about it.
“This is ridiculous, he’s way too old for me, I’m way too young,” Calista recalled thinking when they met. “But you can’t help who you fall in love with, and I fell in love with him. It might be an issue in the future, but, as of now, it really hasn’t been. I like to tease him about it. I use it against him. He’s lived a very long time, you know. He knows everything. I say, ‘Yes, honey, you’re very old, we know that.’”
Calista and Harrison wed in a secret ceremony in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in June. The star has revealed it was a last-minute decision to tie the knot and the day was a laidback affair. Harrison wore jeans to the nuptials and the pair celebrated their union by watching a basketball game afterwards.
“We decided about four days before – well, we were always going to do it, then we suddenly decided to really do it. It was perfect for me, perfect for us,” Calista added to the Sunday Times Style magazine. “I had a perfectly normal day, then I took a shower, went and got married, and we were home in time to watch the Lakers.”
Calista says getting married has made their relationship even better and she feels calmer and more settled than ever before. “[In an argument] I just say OK, I don’t turn into a rabid pit bull so much any more,” she added.
