Plastic surgery-obsessed Pete Burns has said that he hopes the surgeon who botched an operation on him “dies”.

Appearing on US television special Celebrity Plastic Surgery: Gone Too Far, the 1980s pop icon said he has no regrets about his procedures.

"I see it as an art form," the 51-year-old former Dead Or Alive singer said.

"A lot of it is… I had maintenance, and a lot of it is I got bored and I wanted to change things."

Last year, Burns won a reported £450,000 in damages from cosmetic surgeon Dr Maurizio Viel, after his lip-implant operations went wrong. He claimed the botched job left him “suicidal”.

And in the US TV interview, he was still bitter about the doctor.

"I hope he dies," he said. "I hate the man's guts."

But despite his bad experience, the singer insisted it hasn’t put him off having more cosmetic-surgery procedures.

He said: "I'm very clever in what I use now. It’s my own tissue that I use… so the body absorbs it and it's safe and it doesn't reject it."
