Rupert Grint: New Harry Potter is aggressive
Rupert Grint The 22-year-old British actor plays wizard Ron Weasley in the movie franchise, alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson.
The last instalments in the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part One and Part Two, are set for release this November and July 2011 respectively, with fans of the movie eagerly waiting to see how the movie will end.
Rupert says he was shocked by how much more brutal the magic spells his character performs have become, admitting that in the earlier movies they were far less violent.
“They’ve changed the way spells are done. Before we had a ballet choreographer who was quite camp, but now it’s much more aggressive and swordfighting-inspired,” he told Empire magazine.
The Harry Potter movies have been adapted by the best-selling series of books by children’s author J.K. Rowling, and Rupert explained how worried he had been before reading the final books in the series because he feared his character might be killed.
“I think I was the last one to read it. I don’t know why I didn’t, because I’m a big fan of the books; I’ve read all of them. But I was nervous because I’d been hearing so much about characters dying and not making it through to the end. And I wanted Ron to survive!” he laughed.
