Jersey Shore’s Snooki dubbed wannabe LiLo by judge
Nicole Polizzi Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi was today charged with a law aimed at controlling binge drinking in Seaside Heights, New Jersey, where the reality show is filmed.
The 22-year-old was arrested on 30 July for disturbing others on the Seaside Heights beach with her drunk and obnoxious behaviour.
She has been fined $500 and ordered to do two days of community service after she pleaded guilty to the public nuisance charge.
Judge Damien Murray said that he could not be sure if her disorderly conduct had been a scripted stunt for her reality TV show, but added that if it was she needed to decide "if it's worth trading your dignity for a paycheque”.
He also labelled her antics as "rude and self-indulgent" – and called her "a Lindsay Lohan wannabe in this matter".
Snooki reportedly told the court she wanted to apologise to Seaside Heights police and insisted the incident had not been not scripted.
Her lawyer, Raymond Raya, admitted in court that his client – who escaped a possible 90-day stint in jail – had been incredibly drunk when arrested, but outside court he insisted that the judge's comments were uncalled for.
A relieved Snooki later posted a message on her Twitter page, saying: "Ah never again! So scary… Thank you judge for understanding, I'm very thankful for that! Whew… now I can breath!”
