Cowell: 'I thought Cheryl Cole was hungover when she had malaria'

Simon Cowell Simon Cowell thought Cheryl Cole had a hangover when she came down with malaria.
The music mogul admits the Geordie singer was seriously ill when she got the illness but at first he just thought she had just drunk too much the night before.
He told OK! magazine: "When she first fell ill we thought it was a hangover, she even said that to us. But, of course, it was far more serious than that."
The 50 year-old knew Cole, 27, was recovering when he started getting "grumpy" texts from her.
He said: "When we got the all-clear and she started to text me, I knew she was on the mend. Then the texts got increasingly grumpy and I knew she was getting back to her old self."
