The sale includes works by Andy Warhol, Damien Hirst, David Bailey, and other prominent artists.
The Freud portrait, entitled Eight Months Gone is the centrepiece of the auction with expectations it may fetch more than 300,000£.
Hall, now 54, was nearing the end of her pregnancy with her son Gabriel at the time the portrait was done. It came about after she and Freud sat next to one another at a dinner part, the Associated Press reports.
Sotheby's specialist Oliver Barker said the former wife of Rolling Stone front man Mick Jagger had decided to part with a number of pieces.
"She's turning a new leaf," he said. "She's not afraid of change. She's happy to let them leave so other art lovers can enjoy them."
