Katy Perry: Cheryl Cole will quit UK X Factor for States
Katy Perry After standing in for Dannii Minogue at the X Factor auditions in Dublin, Perry said it was obvious boss Simon Cowell sees Cole as his right-hand woman and that he will want her by his side when he launches the US version next year.
Katy told MTV: “Simon absolutely adores her. I’m convinced he’ll be taking her to LA. She has all the star qualities.”
Meanwhile, Cole's new single is said to relate to her battle with malaria – even though it was written months before she fell ill.
It will be the first single from her new album and the lyrics spookily mirror the ordeal she was set to endure months later.
A source told the Daily Star: "Cheryl's comeback song is called Promise This. It was actually written months ago and although it's not directly talking about her illness there is a strange lyrical twist that ironically relates to her recent near-death experience.
"A release date hasn't been confirmed for the single but there's talk Cheryl could perform on the second [X Factor] live show after Joe McElderry."
