Showbiz reporter writes open letter to Lindsay Lohan
Recovering alcoholic Pat O’Brien’s letter has appeared in The Hollywood Reporter, an entertainment industry bible.
In it, the 62-year-old US TV reporter likens Lohan to screen legend Grace Kelly and warns her that if she doesn’t maintain sobriety she could end up dead.
O’Brien writes: “You have to realise that the consequences of denial start to get much more serious than [blogger] Perez Hilton making fun of you.
“Sadly, it’s well-documented that the consequence waiting for you could be death.”
O’Brien also urges the 24-year-old not to blame her father, Michael Lohan, for her troubles.
He says Lohan – whose new movie Machete opens in the US this weekend – should celebrate her recent successes.
O’Brien says that he is one of the “great number of people who are worried about” Lohan.
He ends his letter wishing the actress luck and saying: “Hopefully, I’ll see you soon. I suggest the nearest Starbucks.”
