Ashton Kutcher's attorney Marty Singer has slammed a tabloid story that claimed the Killers star had cheated on wife Demi Moore.

They are "demanding Star issue a retraction and an apology" calling the report an "absolute lie", according to Singer.

Earlier this week a story emerged that Kutcher had been spotted getting up close and personal with another woman.

Singer claims that the 32-year-old actor was not in the restaurant where the alleged incident occurred in July.

If the magazine did not retract the story, Singer told Access Hollywood, "We will evaluate all of our legal options at that time."

Kutcher himself Tweeted on Wednesday, "I think Star magazine calling me a "cheater" qualifies as defamation of character. I hope my lawyer agrees."
